This is another submission to the Atari Aesthetic Show that will be at Brink Gallery. Pitfall was a game I have a lot of memories of, and I always felt like the lack of sophistication in the computer graphics of Atari allowed my imagination to fill in the blanks more.

Montana Arts Council 2011 Artist's Innovation Award

I heard really great news yesterday. I was chosen, along with five other artists, to receive an Artist's Innovation Award. Also, I heard that I was selected to have a solo show at the University of Montana's gallery this spring. I have a lot of ideas cooking for new drawings, installations, and sculptures, and I am so excited for the new year!

This is a sculpture I just finished as a submission to a show about the Atari Aesthetic. I loved playing Air Sea Battle when I was little. I was also fascinated with older kids and mystified by what they liked, what they listened to, and what they wore. This is a piece based on the excitement of being in bed while a babysitter is on the other side of the door, doing mysterious and wonderful things.
Bear with me though, I need to seriously work on photographing my 3D work!

This is a little creature that I've created in a diorama. The figure is roughly 12" tall. He is made out of polymer clay and found objects. I am currently working on an accompanying drawing. I have a desire to do more 2-D pieces based on my own 3-D work.

I am working on two drawings currently, based loosely on the beautiful poem by Rudyard Kipling, "The Song of the Little Hunter".

Ere Mor the Peacock flutters, ere the Monkey People cry,

  Ere Chil the Kite swoops down a furlong sheer,

Through the Jungle very softly flits a shadow and a sigh--

  He is Fear, O Little Hunter, he is Fear!            

Very softly down the glade runs a waiting, watching shade,

  And the whisper spreads and widens far and near.

And the sweat is on thy brow, for he passes even now--

  He is Fear, O Little Hunter, he is Fear!



Ere the moon has climbed the mountain, ere the rocks are ribbed with light,

  When the downward-dipping trails are dank and drear,

Comes a breathing hard behind thee--snuffle-snuffle through the night--

  It is Fear, O Little Hunter  it is Fear,  

On thy knees and draw the bow; bid the shrilling arrow go;

  In the empty, mocking thicket plunge the spear!

But thy hands are loosed and weak, and the blood has left thy cheek--              

  It is Fear, O Little Hunter, it is Fear!



When the heat-cloud sucks the tempest, when the slivered pine-trees fall,

  When the blinding, blaring rain-squalls lash and veer,

Now the spates are banked and deep; now the footless boulders leap--
